Job Description

On-site truck driver, long haul position. Calculate the cost of truck repairs and new parts if needed; plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions; address customers’ complaints or concerns; coach colleagues on new methods or work techniques; mountain driving expertise; professionalism in customer service; arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations; drive as part of a two-person team or convoy; drive lighter, special purpose trucks; load and unload goods; obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes; operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials; oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment; pay and receive payments for goods; perform brake adjustments; perform emergency roadside repairs; perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle; perform preventive maintenance; receive and relay information to central dispatch; record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption; tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo; transport and handle dangerous goods; perform repair work on heavy trucks.

Requirements

  • College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years
  • 1 year to less than 2 years of experience
  • English
  • Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely
  • AZ class license
  • Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)
  • Class 2/2F/C Licence (buses with more than passengers)
  • Class 3/3F/DF Licence (trailer truck, vehicles with more than 3 axles)
  • Defensive Driving Course
  • Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
