Job Description

BJS Transport, located on Gateway Blvd, Brampton, ON (L6T 0J6), is a trusted and growing logistics provider known for reliability, safety, and exceptional service. We are currently seeking a dedicated Long-Haul Truck Driver (Class 1/AZ) to operate cross‑border routes throughout Canada and the United States. Successful candidates will uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service, while ensuring timely and efficient delivery of freight.

Job Duties of this position include:

·        Operate Class 1/AZ tractor‑trailer for long‑haul routes across Canada and the USA

·        Maintain accurate ELD logs and comply with federal Hours of Service

·        Perform pre‑trip, en‑route, and post‑trip inspections

·        Transport freight safely and efficiently

·        Communicate with dispatch, shippers, receivers, and border officials

·        Follow all customs and cross‑border documentation procedures

·        Ensure compliance with company safety policies and federal regulations

·        Loading & transportation of materials and goods;

·        Inspect vehicle for safety and manage vehicle in safe operation required by DOT;

·        Plan routes and meet delivery schedules;

·        Maintain a log of work/rest periods, kilometres and fuel & toll receipts;

·        Collect and verify delivery instructions;

·        Deliver loads with careful attention to customer attention and safety;

·        Run chains and straps to secure loads;

·        Monitor road conditions and follow all applicable traffic laws;

·        Inspect truck before and after each trip and report any damages to the dispatcher;

·        Keep truck and associated equipment clean and in good working order;

·        Plan routes using satellite trackings;

·        Refuel vehicle and check and replace oil as needed;

·        Carefully maneuver truck into loading docks and supervise the loading and unloading of cargo;

·        Communicate as required with customers and dispatch;

·        Make safety a priority at all times;

  • Proficient in driving and maneuvering large trucksExcellent time management and organization skills
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays based on operation needs.

 Job Type: Permanent, full-time position;

Wages & Overtime

  • $37.52 per hour for 50 hours per week
  • Mileage rate: $0.56 per mile
  • Approx miles per week: 3,350
  • Weekly hours: average 50 hours/week (federal long‑haul standard)
  • Cross border premium
  • Overtime rules:
    • Canada Labour Code: Overtime payable after 60 hours/week
    • Ontario ESA, O.285/1: Highway transport drivers are exempt from 44‑hour overtime; federal rules appl

 Job requirements

  • Valid AZ/Class 1 licence
  • Secondary school
  • Ability to drive 50-60 hours/week under federal HOS rules
  • Eligible to enter the United States (passport, visa, admissibility)
  • Clean CVOR and driver’s abstract
  • 1-2 years long‑haul experience preferred
  • Ability to meet weekly mileage targets

 Work conditions & physical capabilities

  • Extended hours (50–60 hours/week)
  • Overnight and multi‑day trips
  • Exposure to varying weather and road conditions
  • Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs (as required for securing loads)
  • Sitting for long periods
  • Mandatory rest periods under federal HOS rules
