Job Description
carpenter position. Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine work requirements; prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools; measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials; fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings and hardware; supervise other workers; estimate costs and materials; maintain, repair and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants and other establishments; repair, resurface and replace worn or damaged sections of concrete structures; examine products for defects to ensure adherence to quality standards; ensure health and safety regulations are followed; clean, lubricate and perform other maintenance work; provide technical and professional advice; perform pre-production runs of binding or finishing jobs to verify output and to ensure that product specifications are met; repair or replace damaged windows, windshields and sunroofs; make adjustments necessary to ensure the smooth running of processes; examine and verify the accuracy of work; coordinate construction activities to ensure compliance with established building specifications.
