Job title: Cybersecurity specialist (NOC 21220)
Wage: $48.05 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor, detect, and respond to real-time security threats, breaches, and anomalies across all systems.
- Implement, maintain, and regularly update VPNs, firewalls, encryption protocols, antivirus tools, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security audits to identify and close security gaps.
- Ensure the security of employee, client, and vendor data, including financial and banking information, credit card data, and confidential communication.
- Design and enforce policies and protocols that comply with PIPEDA, GDPR, ISO/IEC 27001, and other data protection regulations.
- Manage security awareness training programs to educate employees on phishing prevention, secure data handling, and responsible use of company resources.
- Review and analyze security logs and reports; investigate and respond to any suspicious activity or data incidents.
- Ensure all VPN configurations on employee devices are secure and properly managed.
- Protect sensitive information related to vendor contracts, client agreements, and third-party access.
- Participate in risk assessments, compliance checks, and audits to ensure comprehensive data protection controls are in place.
- Stay informed about current and emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies affecting information security and privacy.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks like NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
- Experience with VPNs, SIEM tools, endpoint security, encryption, and incident response.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate security issues and solutions.
