Job Description
We are searching for an Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our team!
Pay: $22 – 24/hour dependent on experience and qualification
Hours:
We follow the SD5 school calendar – applicant must be available:
– 6:45 – 9:15am and 2:30 -6:30pm Monday to Friday on regular calendar days
– 8:00am – 5:00pm on scheduled full days (school closure days)
Calendar available at the beginning of each school year.
32.5 hrs / week on a regular schedule
40hrs / week during school breaks
We are closed for 2 weeks per year – paid vacation for these 2 set weeks ( week of Christmas and week of Canada day
Duties
- Supervise and ensure the safety of children aged 5-11 at all times
- Plan and lead age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts
- Assist with organizing and implementing daily schedules
- Keeping classroom tidy and clean, following procedures for health and safety
- Provide guidance and support to children in their social, emotional, and physical development
- Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all children
- Collaborate with other staff
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding children’s progress and concerns
- Able to write reports to licensing standards
- Knowledge of interior health licensing rules and regulations
- Responsible for walking children safely to and from school daily
- Reporting and communicating to management
- Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
- Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
- Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
- Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours

Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience
7 months to less than 1 year of ECE/ECEA experience
Credentials
- Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) Certificate
- First Aid Certificate
- CPR Certificate

Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
