Job Duties

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, job specifications and project scopes to determine accurate layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, drainage systems, venting, and fixture locations.
  • Oversee large-scale installation projects, coordinating task assignments and maintaining company quality standards.
  • Must have experience with the installation of structural liners, experience in trenchless sewer/water replacements.
  • Install, repair and maintain residential and light-commercial plumbing systems, including supply lines, drainage systems, venting systems, water heaters, pumps, fixtures and related equipment.
  • Perform complex installations and repairs requiring advanced technical knowledge and problem-solving.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipes, fittings and fixtures, cut openings in walls, floors or framing as required, and ensure accurate placement in accordance with building codes and plans.
  • Cut openings safely using appropriate tools and methods while maintaining structural integrity and workplace safety.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, and assemble piping using industry-standard hand and power tools, ensuring precise fit and long-term reliability.
  • Join piping using couplings, clamps, bolts, solvent cement, soldering, brazing or welding equipment, depending on materials and job requirements.
  • Conduct pressure testing using air or water gauges to confirm system integrity and identify leaks before project completion.
  • May quote estimates and provide emergency response on request
  • Train, mentor and support junior and apprentice technicians.
  • Schedule personnel, tools and equipment
  • Operate CADD and other computer software

Skills Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the trade
  • Progress toward or completion of a recognized plumbing apprenticeship program.
  • Physically demanding
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Criminal record check
  • Driving record check (abstract)
  • Confined trade entry training
