TECHFORCE is looking to hire a Software Engineering Manager to join their busy company. The Software Engineering Manager will be responsible to define and execute the company’s technology roadmap aligned with business objectives. Oversee software development, design and deployment for smart home systems, act as senior technical advisor on complex or high-value projects, be the point of contact with Hungarian speaking clients, partners and stakeholders. As UPHOME’s technology is based on a European software development product headquartered in Hungary therefore advanced level of Hungarian language skills is a must. This role requires several years of experience in systems analysis, software engineering and network design with a deep understanding of building automation systems, and exceptional leadership skills.

Minimum requirements
Languages: English and Hungarian
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of software development experience. Specialized experience in smart home automation solutions and previous management role experience is a must.
Job duties
- Define and execute the company’s technology roadmap aligned with business objectives
- Lead innovation initiatives across smart home automation, IoT, software platforms, and user experience
- Identify and implement emerging technologies to enhance system performance and customer interaction
- Drive development of intuitive, user-centric smart home interfaces and applications
- Lead and mentor cross-functional teams including software developers, UX designers, engineers, and field technicians
- Build a culture of innovation, design thinking, and engineering excellence
- Oversee hiring, training, and performance management of technical and product teams
- Oversee software development for smart home systems, including custom integrations, APIs, and automation logic
- Provide hands-on or strategic oversight in coding environments (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, or similar relevant languages)
- Lead UX/UI strategy, ensuring systems are intuitive, responsive, and aligned with modern user expectations
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver seamless digital and physical experiences
- Ensure strong alignment between backend systems and frontend user interfaces
- Oversee design and deployment of systems with a strong emphasis on Chameleon Smart Home platform
- Ensure seamless integration of lighting, AV, security, climate, and networking systems
- Develop scalable and customizable solutions for high-end residential and commercial clients
- Define technical standards, development frameworks, and QA processes
- Oversee system architecture, network infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practices
- Ensure successful project delivery, commissioning, and long-term system performance
- Act as a senior technical advisor on complex or high-value projects
- Communicate effectively with Hungarian-speaking clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Present technical concepts, product innovations, and UX strategies to executive and client audiences
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science
- Minimum of 5 years of software development experience.
- Demonstrated experience in smart home automation solutions
- Previous management role experience is a must
- Fluent in English and in Hungarian
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Flexibility to travel as needed
